Manufacturer Provided Description
The elegant Crabber 24 has the classic look of a topsail gaff cutter, or a modern Bermuda rig, set on a graceful hull with low-profile cabin and large, protected cockpit, and a long keel cut away forward for maneuverability. Heavy displacement makes the Crabber 24 a boat that will take sailors anywhere with confidence and pleasure. The classic Crabber 24 gaff-rigged cutter shares her beauty with her larger sister the Pilot Cutter 30, the Cornish Crabber's flagship. Both are fitted with the distinctive Jackyard topsail. For those who enjoy the delights of Bermuda rigs, Cornish Crabbers has introduced a Bermuda cutter version of the Crabber 24. Having a similar sail area to the gaff cutter, performance is comparable. The construction of the Crabber 24 maintains the rigorously high standards set by Cornish Crabbers. Hulls and decks are hand laid in tough GRP and can be produced in a wide choice of colour combinations allowing each customer to individually personalise their boat. The Crabber 24 comes with a wide range of specifications as standard including generous use of hardwoods and polished stainless steel fittings. The heavy displacement combined with a well-protected cockpit makes the Crabber 24 a delight to sail in all weathers. The generous sail area gives good performance in light winds and the diesel engine allows comfortable and quiet motoring in all weather conditions.

Sails and Rigging

The gaff rigged, deck stepped sail plan has 397 sq. ft.of sail area giving her an easily manageable sail plan in any weather, with the ability to have great performance in the lightest of winds. She has Schaeffer Free Flying roller furling on both the staysail and the jib, running backstays for headsail tensioning, single line reefing from the cockpit for both the first and second mainsail reefs

Mast is stepped on the deck in a substantial, stainless steel tabernacle. This is supported Stainless Steel compression post. The mast, boom, gaff and jackyards and bowsprit are douglas fir. Mast is hollow from the hounds down to reduce weight. A wiring chase accommodates VHF and nav light cables. The mast can be quickly and easily lowered and raised by a couple. All spars and the bow sprit are spruce, and were professionally refinished 3 years ago.

Peak and throat halyards are led aft to the cockpit through rope clutches for ease of handling. Four brand new 8 oz tankbark sails (double reef main, 2 headsails, 1 storm trisail.), plus spare main and storm sail.  Offshore capsize stability ratio - makes this vessel ideal for cruising the Bahamas!

Retractable bowsprit, new 100' 5/8" galvanized chain, plus 200' of rode.

This is a rare chance to own a true classic Cornish Crabber 24 Gaff Rigged Cutter. A boat that will turn every head in the harbor with her traditional beauty and striking lines. Hand laid GRP hulls and a finely finished interior with amazing space both below and on deck. She carries 397 sq. ft. of sail with an almost 45% ballast ratio, for both fast and very stable performance. The amazingly spacious cabin features standing headroom, a full galley, nav station and enclosed head. It is very bright and well lit, a very comfortable space.

This layout features a wrap around salon settee that can be converted in a huge sleeping area. The table can be moved up and down on the compression post to convert to a sleeper, seat your family for dinner or open up the salon for entertaining .... The small berthing area forward can be expanded to add an additional berth.

The interior is finely finished beautiful hardwoods giving her a warm traditional feeling which is nicely complemented by the dusky blue upholstery. The cabin is surrounded by nicely designed storage with custom racks for dishes and cups. More storage forward and additional storage under the settees and berths. The galley features a 2 burner Plastimo 2000 propane stove to port with broiler. 22 gallons of water, cold manual water in the galley and the head, icebox and S.S. sink. Icebox built in below nav station. The nav area to starboard extends the galley. The sink which is built into the nav station surface, has the optional cover for ease of conversion.

There is a very nice enclosed head to port with Jabsco Marine manual head with a 20 gallon holding tank. This is installed under the cockpit sole with a pump out on the stern deck.

To starboard is the nav station. A generous working surface with storage and easy access to the electrical panel and nav gear. There are screens for the main and forward hatches.
