Sunseekers Unique Design Philosophy:
The design and development of all craft within the Sunseeker range is fully controlled by the ?in-house? design team, lead by John Braithwaite. All specialist and technical design aspects including naval architecture (with close and constant liaison with Don Shead), structural design, engineering, systems, electrical installations and interior design are fully integrated under one roof. This ensures that all issues that arise between the various specialist areas during the design and development process are simultaneously refined in the most focused, concise and effective way. This close liaison also allows any design issues arising from dealership and customer feedback to be quickly and fully considered and if required acted upon.
The design team fully utilizes the latest computer software packages including 3-D visualization, CAD-CAM and Computational Flow dynamics. This technology , backed up by an enviable history of performance data and product feedback, allows all aspects of the design process to be constantly optimized, developed and advanced with the greatest possible accuracy to produce the best overall package for each model.

Unique Sunseeker Hulls:
All craft within the Sunseeker range can accuracy be described as ?Motoryachts with a Performance Heritage?. This statement which may be quickly glanced over, but it effectively underlines where Sunseeker hull design has its roots. All Sunseeker hulls (except the Fabio Buzzi designed XS Sport and XS 2000) have a direct family lineage with the legendary Don Shead Class 1 Offshore Racing hulls, which are still winning races when the sea is too rough for catamarans. As a case in point, the XPS 34 still holds the award for the only production boat ever, to win outright a round of the Offshore Championship. While many Sunseeker craft (the Superhawk range for example) have hulls that are almost identical in design to those offshore racing boats, even the larger Predators, Manhattans, and Yachts have hulls closely related in design. These larger hulls have been developed and enhanced to retain many race boat characteristics while also allowing increased accommodation and deck space. The XS 2000 and XS Sport, have a Fabio Buzzi race boat hull that in various forms is winning races and breaking records all over the world. Most recently a Sunseeker XS 2000 broke the Round Britain record, breaking the previous record set by three hours.

Construction
All Sunseekers are made from hand-laid GRP and are built up in the following method:
Gel coat ? one of the most visible and unique properties of the Sunseeker range is its gel coat. Developed over the past three years, XCEL gel is an exceptional product. Through extensive UV trials and extreme humidity tests, XCEL gel has proved to have outstanding performance in the harshest of marine environments. XCEL gel, which is exclusive to Sunseeker, has a resistance to yellowing and excellent gloss retention. We believe that it is by far the best marine gel coat on the market and will out perform even the best paint systems.
Hull osmosis protection ? Sunseeker hulls offer maximum resistance to osmosis by the combination of the following:
ï?? NPG gel coat on and below the waterline.
ï?? Covering the entire gelled hull molding (including strips) by a layer of power-bound chopped strand mat.
Structure ? The Sunseeker hull is a highly engineered structure, utilizing multi-axial fabrics and optimizing stiffening to produce a light, yet strong configuration to withstand the high impact loads that these type of craft can expect.
The hull bottom is of single skin construction, longitudinally stiffened with stringers and girders, which are in turn supported by transverse ring-frames and bulkheads.
All the hull topsides, decks and superstructures are built in a sandwich construction using either balsa or PVC foam as a core material.
Detailed design and engineering keep the molding weights to a minimum by applying some, or all of the following:
- Optimizing the orientation of the fibers within the laminate.
- Utilizing carbon fibers to make use of its high specific strength and stiffness.
- Extensive use of sandwich technology of using thin multi-axial laminate skins over a core material to produce very strong and stiff structures.
Further developments over the last few years have also seen Sunseeker embracing the latest adhesive technologies to help increase strength but to also reduce weight by moving away from more traditional fixing methods. Both epoxies and methacrylates are being extensively used in areas such as joining large moldings, gluing superstructure glass windows and in various interior joinery applications.
All Sunseeker boats built for the USA market meet USCG build regulations and ABYC recommendations.

Performance
Sunseeker is committed to performance hull design throughout the current range and future projects. This philosophy combined with the latest propeller and hull-tunnel design, ensures that all models, even the largest, have performance and handling characteristics of a much smaller sports boat. For example, the 105 Yacht can achieve up to 30 knots* while comparable competitive designs are achieving 25 knots with similar power. Even more impressive is the Predator 95, which despite the generous proportions of its hull and massive accommodations has achieved 50 knots and has agile handling that amazes those who try her.
The main advantages over the competition afforded by the fine entry and deep-V configuration typical to all Sunseeker hulls can be summarized as follows:
-Reduced slamming and improved sea keeping ensuring a softer ride in head and cross seas.
-More directional stability in following seas.
-Faster in all sea conditions, slicing through seas rather than crashing through them.
-Dryer ride in heavy seas.
-Improved maneuverability.
-Reduced boat draft and higher propeller efficiency on shaft drive models due to advanced hull-tunnels.
